Here are a few vids showing the first fruit for 2009 arrriving at the winery.  Unfortunately this is not Fiasco fruit but that of another winery that uses the same facility as us….I’m a winemaker at this place too, so i see double the action!!  I collected the first samples from our Fiasco vineyard yesterday, and the Sauvignon is at 16.7 brix which fecked me off a little!  Looks like there will be about a 2 week wait before i can show you the ‘complete Fiasco’ coming in.   You will notice in the first video that I get the year wrong….harvest has only begun and already i dont know which year i’m in…can someone remind me that i’m still Aaron in 1 month!!

I am glad that is not your fruit as it looked like it had already started fermenting in the back of the lorry and would require quite a bit of SO2.
I am looking forward to tasting the Black Pearl as part of the TweeBunchNZ.

Well, there goes the mystery. Where are the peasant girls in bare feet?

Hey Guys, thanks for the comments!! Actually, that fruit was in really good knick and my poor video technique probably didn’t do it justice.

The peasants (myself included) were waiting in the background ready to pounce once the filming had stopped. They’re a shy bunch!!

Is that System of a Down that they are blasting in the first video? Pretty interesting wine-making music! Could scare the grapes ;-).

    Hi Rhett

Yep winery music can be a real mixed bag – you’d love it! Over vintage about 100 extra staff are brought in from all over the world and the majority are in their twenties. Aaron had a laugh one year throwing some Dean Martin into the selection! The winery is always blasting music – plays a vital part in keeping everyone going when the place is running 24/7 and it’s 3 am and you’re cold and tired. Aaron went to work at 8.30 pm last night and this morning still wasn’t home – eventually finished at 11 am, and now he’s about to head off for more of the same. It goes like this for six weeks or so with no weekends. I must never complain about my job hours again!
